29and what are you guys doing? Is this the first time in North America? It was the first shows. First show in Canada. Yeah, it was a band. Have a show? First time in Canada. Yeah, we've never been to Canada before. Never been to Canada. Oh, well have you explored the experience so far in our country? Well, we're in Toronto and it's literally one of the best that you've ever seen. It's so clean, the skyline is incredible, we're going to go up the tower tomorrow and we can't wait. One thing we have experienced though, the cold. Yeah, wow. The cold in England. It's very crisp. It's very crisp. It's a crisp and cold. Exactly. It's refreshing cold. Which is quite nice. Yeah, exactly. Feel like we need to hit the slope. Shall we hit the slope? Do you know how to ski? Yeah. Oh, okay. So then you ask you to do the slopes. Well, they do. Yeah, I just feel like. But on average, yes. You make it work. I'll pick you up before. You're in a slope? About two hours north of the year?

14That's not bad. That's not bad. I'll drive. I'll drive. Yeah, now we're in a half maybe. If you're faster either. Oh, yeah. Have you got a car? Did you like to go? All right, let's go. Do that. Go skier. Are you guys skiers or snowboarders? I've been skiing. I'm all this level. I've been skiing a lot. It's so neither. Just falling. Rolling down the hill. Rolling's a great pleasure. Yeah, it's a great pleasure. Just a slight. Give me a slight. That'll be amazing. Yeah. Yeah, let me call them toboggins here. I was thinking that's what you meant, but I wasn't sure. A little nuance is in the language. You don't always have it. Anyway, so a question I hate asking bands, but I think it's a really cool story is the name behind the band. And I thought it's really touching. And I thought maybe you could share that. Yeah, cool. So, it's a great question. And this is a great question. It's a great question. I'm going to be a person. It comes from a brain surgeon.

00Funny enough. It's a bit of a weird story back home where I live from Liverpool. I had quite a big operation when I was 19. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. And Dr. Lawson is the surgeon who saved my life and operated on me at the big 18 hour surgery and was in hospital for around four months. And he was the guy who made me all batter again. And as a songwriter did that experience lead to any songs in this record? It didn't on this record actually, no. I wrote a song call you'll be okay. Which you never use for the album. I think it was a little bit too personal. But you know maybe in the future maybe. But yeah, most of the album comes from heartbreak with gals rather than heartbreakingly with health.

47But I definitely did write a song so maybe we could explore that for the second record. The record is not even here yet. People are tweeting to come to Canada and join. We have a lot of social media I think. People have learned the words to all the songs on the album. We've pretty much sold out the show which is tomorrow night in the mod club. It's crazy isn't it. We got to the airport and there were loads of people waiting for us to go outside. It's amazing. I didn't know the words I said to them I was like well it's not released here. How do you know the songs and they look dead and embarrassed? Because you know they've stored that out. People are listening to the music. It's not the fact that we can come over here and do a gig because of that. The songs you can do show is the value.

32They're all about the live show. And you've been in the States for a couple of weeks too doing some business stuff, some music stuff as well. We've been in LA and New York. We've released nothing over here until we got to LA New York this time. We don't know promo in North America either. There's just a load of people saying on Twitter you should come over and do some shows. We can't just put these free shows on as a test to see how they went down. LA New York was sold out and hopefully Toronto's nearly sold out now so it should be sold out by the show. The fact we sold out these free shows already we couldn't believe it. We came over and we did a load of promo in New York and a load of promo in LA. This is the truss second ever interviewing Canada right now. Two. Not number one. Literally you're five minutes off being number one. You're five minutes. It's the worst second or best. That's how it goes isn't it?

18Yeah well let's hope so. We're only a few minutes ten years in the world. I'm both just feeling. Yeah I did. That's so good. Great. Who played with Bon Jovi? Someone played Bon Jovi as a teenager? Exactly. How does it work? That was right basically. It's my old band. I'm obsessed with Bon Jovi as well so this was for me. But yeah that was my old band lot. We just have a band. We won a local competition. We were running a thing to get local support out to each of these shows. We won this thing. I think that's what kind of spurred me on to be like I could actually make a living out of this. This could be quite cool. Since that day that's what made me so driven to really committed music. What kind of band was that? I hear everyone played in different genres of bands. Every time running the spectrum.

03Yeah we were like 80s throw. Yeah Jovi explained this badly. Me and him that were about 14 and we were in different bands and we used to get together around where we used to live in Mansfield. They're not again. Basically you come on you have a chat and they're like oh guys how's it going? What ever in chat? Normal guys. They go away to get ready for the gig. They come back with like eyeliner on. Like a hair. Like a hair. Somewhere. Is this case or is it those guys? Yeah we were. We were in town. It was very expensive. It was very expensive. What other bands were people in? Was there like a hardcore band or like what was it? I've been in a punk band. I've been in a pop punk band. I've been in a metal band. We have to do it all. That's a bit of a straight beat band. It's a bit of a flop. I hope so. Actually the easy to disappear. Like when we were first getting going as a band because we didn't have any money.

49We were getting fired from our jobs because like I've got a gig of comic into work and I'm like well I'll go off like that. Just stuff like that. And every now and then like probably once a month and you disappear for five days on a cruise ship. Playing ball and cart. And then the playing ball and carting. That was your gig. You were falling. And then you come back three days later because you got kicked off. Yeah a band from an entire line of cruise ships. I used to do a decent ball and practice. I ate your gig. So I used to go on and play bass and do ball. I used to go on and play bass and do ball. I used to play. You have a half now. You do a wig. You have a group of hair especially for it. Yeah I love doing it. And then when we started the band I just wanted to do the band. But that paid really well because people wanted to see Beatles music all over the world. But then yeah one that I got a bit carried away and I ended up getting kicked off the cruise half of the crew.

38And he said you will never work for this particular other cruise ever again. So I did this with captains off this. I don't know what a CCTV footage of him rolling down the stairs. The main grand staircase in the ship and Andy Brown's doing a rolling ball. He was like a backward scene from Tarnetun. He did. He put the rock and roll up to her. He had enough. He had enough. He's going to be rockin' ball. It's going to be great now that all the successes happen now when they call you to be like, hey we want you to play the ship and you'll be like, man, I'll just say man. Never chance. Talking about the Beatles. I'm a huge Beatles nerd. So I wonder, in Liverpool is it still a big Beatles thing or are people kind of in like, yeah we know? It's still special. Is that? Yeah it's still special because obviously the Beatles are, I mean fair to say the biggest band that ever existed on me.

25So I think people in Liverpool are just proud. But also there's a lot of museums, you know obviously the cabin where I used to play gigs all the time. Really? And it's definitely that feeling still there of that special 60 sort of feeling. But not just the Beatles, a lot of great music coming out of Liverpool as well. But I think the Beatles a lot of you are remembered as the best. Until the autumn. Well yeah. Unfortunately we're not all from Liverpool but I'm... Unfortunately you guys feel unfortunate. So unfortunate. So unfortunate. Yeah. Every day just wake up and just wake up. All of the lads are fucked up. They've got the accent off to a table. So we can pretend, we are pretend that we're all from Liverpool. Now pretend that we're all from Liverpool. You know, pretend that every night again, you know.

11Everything kind of changed with us. You guys have been gigging working your asses off for about four years, right? And then the wanted thing happens and now you're at a whole different level. It's kind of felt quite slow. Like you say we've worked out it for a while and obviously things really blew up last year for us. But I think we felt like we worked to that point. So we'd be turning around to it and we wouldn't really notice you turning around and go wait, boys, do you like what we're doing right now? Like we played the over two in London over Christmas and we used to dream of playing that venue. We used to go into rehearsals and pretend we were coming on stage to like 18,000 people. Now when you do it, we just kind of keep telling the girl, you know what? We've come a very long way here. This is kind of crazy and it's just quite humbly really. I'm glad we had the time before to sort of work on this. You'd appreciate it more. Yeah, definitely. Time for Christmas. What's it like with a Christmas birthday?

57I know people who love it and I know people who hate it. It's absolutely awful. You hate us and all that stuff. I'm not going to have a birthday Christmas in you, yeah. And it's rubbish. No one cares. I'm too so excited about the next day. We don't see each other either because we all go home for Christmas. Exactly. Before we have a guy whose birthday he's will be out at the summer and then you say he's like doing promo or a gig. So for that night we can kind of go out and have a big night out. But Christmas Eve, everyone wants to stay in because it's Christmas the next day. So, uh, definitely doesn't have Michael's friends. Christmas Eve, I was the biggest night of the year. Last year, Andy was found there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Last year, Andy's family actually said to Andy, you ruined Christmas. There are his family's words to him. I ruined cruise ships. I ruined Christmas. I ruined everything. That's really. Yeah, Christmas Eve. Oh, there's a big deal.

42Yeah, everyone in the town is out. So everyone knows everyone always ends up in too many drinks and usually back at my place with my time. Oh, yeah, so I thought you'd have a wicked Christmas Eve. But if you want the quiet one then people will rest. I did, I mean, all you guys are home. It's true. Yeah, I mean, all the band are gone and they all live up in the north of England. I said they were all in my own in Brighton. He's in the south of England. Right. So. I'm not fun at Beth Bay's anyway, mate. No. It's just the age of Christmas. Can we put an L this one to Beth? Yeah, that's what it is. I'm nearly 26 now. Every time it's my birthday, I don't want to celebrate. I want to forget about it. See, that's really quite young. We all enjoy them still. Don't be saying that when you're my age. This can be interesting. We do some cool five questions. Five quick questions, one word answers. What is this? Is this like? Everyone can answer. Okay.

27Yeah. Roder Studio. Roder, Roder. Letting her McCourtney. McCourtney. Really? That's the first thing I've ever had before dancing with her. Yeah. When you hear a song that usually hits you first, lyrics, melody or rhythm? Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. Mm. And then overlooking the O2 Arena, we're going to go back to that venue. We're in a little tiny flat overlooking the O2 Arena and this was like a year, eighteen

15months before we signed. And then we were just like can you imagine if you could play that venue one day and fast forward two years of three years and actually closed our set at the O2 Arena with that song. Mm. And it was a really like full circle kind of moment. I think it's the most important song for us anyway. Yeah. Like I've seen it to be the one that back home that I won't collect it the most, and even before we released it or wrote the album or anything. People used to sing along to that louder than they sing along to the singles we brought out prior to it. So it's a very special song of the word. That's one of Taylor Swift's dicks too. Yeah. It's always nice. That's always nice. That was nice. Yeah. So the fans is pretty nice. Yeah, it's a good one to have. Yeah. In one word, Lawson. Idiots was the first song I get. Idiots.

00Yeah, maybe take one word each. You've got idiots. I'm going to hyphen this one. Sure. I'm going to say live band. Okay. I was just going to say live. Yeah. Come see us live. I was going to hyphen pop rock. Pop rock. Pop rock. What can we see live besides this? Are there plans to come back? I mean there will be. Definitely. We've not actually had a tour. Can we have this? Yeah, we're going back to the UK. We have a month until then. We're going to South East Asia. And then we're probably going to come back to North America after that. So it will be tired at some point around that. I would like to play in the summer. Yeah. Nice. Well we'll see you then guys. Yeah. Thanks so much for doing this. Thank you. Thank you. And shake all of your hand. We're going to take forever. I'm going to take forever.
