07Hey everybody, I'm Isaac. I'm Taylor and I'm Zach and we're Hanson. This is MSN.ca Thank you so much for doing this Shout out to the new record. Yeah, it's phenomenal. It's like this 50 60s early 70s soul funk But 90s counting crows gin blossoms kind of thing to it. It's just a bag of good I like it. I didn't know what I would expect going into listening to it But I really don't know that was cool So talk about the process behind this one as opposed to I guess the last one The thing is if you followed the band and we've never really diverted from our influence They always talk about soul music classic rock and roll, but the lat the previous two records were definitely a little more

56Loozy little more pop rock like just a little more straight ahead and I think going to this record is our fifth album We just we were just kind of celebrating the stuff that we grew up with a little bit more and we discovered the swing Yeah, there's the rhythm. I think Yeah, it has more more of a role to play every record on the last three I think we've stepped it further further back as far as the the core of the production I mean we grew up listening to songwriters and great songs and great vocalists and that's what we aspire to So it's it's a pop record from a song point of view, but it's not a pop record from a production point of view It's it's an organic really earthy Very live you know You guys right to are you writing just jamming together and then songs come out or you come up?

47Yeah, it sounds like a lot of them come from the piano at least Piano dominant than any album we've made and I think part of that is is that those kinds of songs like they just lean a little more Piano the R&B slightly more R&B leaning takes you a little bit away from the big tower guitar the guitar plays the tasty Riff roll, you know I'm okay with because I mean I love AC DC, but ultimately I always just kind of wanted to be in a funk band Yes, yeah, it's very it's And that's most guitar driven song on the record and the guys had to like pull me into that because I was like messing around What's out then and they were like no no no that's cool. Keep playing that I don't know It's gonna and it's actually no watch it

35Okay, all right, I like it But then you have a song like I've been thinking about something other than you Well, it's classic it's a classic like soul song I mean we so so many great soul songs. It's like you're singing it you better think think about And it's it's like it's not a love song like I really love you baby It's just it's a you better watch it. You know the fingers waving Was was Johnny Taylor who's making love You know and it's just But it also literally references in kind of classic word nerds about songwriting and artists

25form we ended up referencing a bunch of songs like respect and and Stuff by Sam and Dave and and stuff by Ray Charles and stuff I was writing and things like that in the lyrics. So there are so there are these little like twists where you got okay That's a Sam and Dave song. Oh, that's it because we because we were feeling that it was appropriate Sanitations of portops or yeah making the old Yeah, are you able to do that live or you plan like you have a synthesizer? We could we thought about I mean we've had tracks in some shows where we haven't had horns, but we just hate I Say we hate it you want the horns to be there when they're really there. Yeah, you don't want somebody like where's that horn guy? Do something called five questions five quick questions one more answers road or studio

16Studio no I Am a cartney Song you've written your most proud of Song has a three word that's all right Zach. We'll make it work There's a song called a song to sing off our second record last song on the right It is one word there you go you were able to do it On the new record honestly think about something is one of the most fun songs to play What's most important in a song lyrics melody or rhythm rhythm hip-hop is proved that rhythm Nothing that turns around an audience faster and then stomping exactly and that is the reason why rhythm is the most important part

07Michael Jackson Pretty much all about rhythm when you listen to music Melion round there's some great there's great melodies on top of rhythm But the reason why you can listen to black or white and it literally is not the lyrics that are written in the booklet Because it's all about that you know the rhythm. It's about the way he sings not Sounds like I'm having a seizure and in one word Hanson Handsome Yes I don't know I'll go with you see see juicy sure Thank you very much
