03You've been playing what a month now every Tuesday here? No, we did three weeks three weeks every Tuesday Here and then we did it once in December, but in between December and now we Did a whole tour up in the northwest northeast of the United States and then up into Canada very nice and we came home here for A month and just did some shows around here and now we're going back out first shows April 1st Very nice in Indianapolis start the show off of the song. What do you want to hear when are your songs? I would like to hear a crazy bitch the new single. Yes Lyrically at least always reminds me like the like the dirty south crunk the hip hop stuff. It's very dirty Just flat out dirty song. Yes. How can we chose that to be the single? I mean it's got swearing. It's got sex It's great because I don't think there's enough risk taking in rock and roll right now. It is very dull. Yeah
52Okay, I don't know it's it's really bland and boring and asexual and just It sucks really, you know, the only people are taking risks really are just you know rap music still You know and that's why you have all these award shows filled with you know rap music. There's not there's no rock bands anymore I like rap rap music. Yeah, mostly. I only like gangster shit like old school, you know, like I have this whole Playlist I do before I go on just to get warmed up and it's just like, you know big E2 pop and WA You know, I like 50, you know 50 cent. Yeah, he's cool What songs I can think of a big eat song. What's fun hypnotized nice? Yeah, it's one of my favorite ones cool
38You grew up around here. Yes. Oh, see punk rock scene. Yes. Do you get to catch like guns and roses back in the day at the whiskey? I never caught guns and roses. My sister did but I never did um I wasn't really into that at the time like hair bands But um I liked guns and roses, but it took me a while to get there. I mostly liked um, you know independent punk rock records like My threat subhumans toy dolls Some orange County bands like DI and doggy style nice. Yeah, a lot of like younger kids downstairs heavy dirt Yeah, is that something you're doing just give them back, you know having the kids open was that your idea? How did that come about it wasn't really my idea? No, do you even know what was happening? I didn't even know what's happening. They seem cool though. Yeah, yeah, definitely Every week you guys been here. Yeah, they just been rotating bands. Yeah, there's been like a set act, you know to open up for us
32Nice. Yeah, let's play another song. What do you want here? I would like to hear on set cool. Yeah It's like one of my favorite songs on record. I just I really like what lyrically what it's about, you know It's kind of it's it's about like My version of spirituality, you know my my higher power my god Yeah, what do you believe in what do I believe in I believe in love man? Yeah That was a blast um I got a call Steven Tyler was under the weather and he was supposed to do walk this way with a DMC and and Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton and they said hey do you want to fill in? I was like sure and I was on the short list and I think I was at the end of the short list, but I was on it and and
24So that as lo and behold they called me and said you're in so I did one little rehearsal with DMC here and That was a blast. He's really cool and then they needed a drummer for some of their stuff. So my drummer Xavier Went to and he was he was on he played with them and we all got on this little fucking private jet and With no bathroom, which was Harry for me. I'm not I'm not into small planes and we flew there with Gary I forget his last name Gary the the dude on CSI. Oh, yeah He's always saying and I forget his fucking last name, but yeah really cool guy man we we flew with him L.A. Easton from the cars the guitar player and And who Romeo from the new power generation cool. Yeah, yeah, they were all in that band
14and so it was it was like the most fun three days I've had a long time and when we got there Joey Kramer was there and we we'd done a few shows there of Smith so it was good to see him and and it just went off great and then and then I'm there and they said hey do you want to you want to Sing rock in the free world with Neil Young and I'm like yeah And so and so I got to go out there and nobody nobody was singing with Neil Young on his mic And they told me to go up and sing with him. So I was like alright So that was like a total dream come true to sing with him, you know, it was rad I was really intimidated and it was so much fun. You mentioned Xavier three new band members. Yes They all just old friends from there. They're old friends actually and we all kind of never got to play in a band together because all the timing and never worked out and just having to work out and
04These guys love Buck Cherry and it was effortless and amazing and that's why the record is so good five years Five years you did a lot of stuff since last record. You had your own little band for a while. Yeah, it's a Mac thing Yeah, I just macking you gonna go back into it. I do it when I have time, you know, it's fun. Yeah, I love it What's the difference between acting and like rock and roll? It's a lot of sitting around There's a lot of sitting around and rock and roll, but it's just a it's a little different of a process, you know But it's still like even with rock and roll you got to kind of become something When you get on stage, you know, you got to kind of leave everything behind and and that's like, you know What you got to do with acting, you know, I felt like that was the parallel, you know I just just you got to kind of get into some other, you know, role and you can do that with rock and roll all the time
52Especially when you're not feeling up to it, you know And there's a lot of times when you're just not feeling well and you got to get on stage So I just kind of use that philosophy and that's how I approach acting, you know Yeah, I love it too. Alright, I wish you want any song off all three records. Yeah, okay cool Want to talk about the downloading music the illegal stuff at least you think it's helped your arms you more oh um You know, it's really difficult to Gauge like how it's really affecting you But um, you know, I just think they're pros and cons of the new technology and how people are getting music and And there was pros and cons of the old way, you know I think the I think the old way before the internet and downloading and all that it was people didn't have access to enough music You know and now and now they got access to so much shit that that I don't think anybody will be is
43I don't think any genre of music will ever be as big as it ever was like back in the day They won't be like this big movement of like metal or you know, I mean It's just never gonna be like that because of this, you know, so That's kind of weird to me because I always grew up where there was like there was like big movements of certain things, you know And especially here. Yeah, yeah, definitely so that's a little strange But um as far as like bands being able to market themselves for very little money That's like the best part of it. You know, that's the best part of it that I can see, you know You think it's gonna get rid of the whole album concept You don't have like records anymore and all that's what they say they say that you know music at some point is going to be free streaming Audio like water and I was like don't you know when an artist hears free they like freak out because you know
29This is our livelihood and but I think they'll figure out ways to you know Be able to make a living and do it because if bands can't make a living and do this then It's just then why do it and then and then there's not gonna be any great music out there, you know Yeah, because I mean if you if you got a fucking maintain some kind of paying your bills You can't like go out on the road and do all that shit, you know, so I think I still think that live Entertainment is going to be where it's at, you know, because everybody wants to see live entertainment and they're always gonna want to see it Yeah, you know, and right now that's where the that's where the biggest amount of income is coming from in bands It's not from record sales anymore You notice that you don't really hear of like album selling 10 20 million copies anymore It just doesn't happen anymore, you know, like the highest selling record last year was like 5 million copies and that's like
17ridiculous like you know, so It's definitely the live businesses where it's at, you know, the new record is an independent release or major label It's independent release in the States major label in Japan and Canada Yeah, we're kind of licensing it and you know different We're just doing different licensing deals for different Regions, you know, you think that's the way to go. I mean it makes a lot more sense now with the whole demo Well, I think it's a way to go I think it's the way to go if you've if you got a brand like we have you know And we've been doing it for a while we have a foundation, but It's a little harder for a band that doesn't have any kind of a following, you know I think they need a little they need some money and a machine behind them to kind of get them exposed, you know So I don't know, you know I think it's a lot harder if you if you don't have like a brand and you're on independent to really get international
09Recognition, you know, it's it's it's hard to get over and tour because you need a lot of money touring costs a lot of money It costs a lot of money to keep a band on a road Like if I told you you would you would just be blown away just well just if you know one time Just like if you want to be in a bus alone. That's over $20,000 a month a month. Wow. Yeah, so If you break it down to just a van in hotel rooms, it's it's a lot of money So and when you're a baby band you don't get you get like maybe Dig again teasers like nothing every night, you know zero to like maybe two hundred dollars a night So, you know, it's hard. That's why you need to support from a label, you know, definitely. Let's play another song What do you want here? I would like to hear Slip my wrist from time on we just think we're gonna show five questions five quick questions one word answers sure iPod or CDs
02iPod McCartney McCartney alcohol and marijuana alcohol song you've written your most proud of oh Wow Place in the song and one word book cherry One word one word. I can't do it in one word chaos personified
