12Hey, it's Matt with MSN.CA. We got all-star weekend here guys. How you doing? Yo everybody. What's up? Good. So let's talk about the CP, the American Dream. Yes. So I guess it's the prelude to a new record that we'll see soon. Yeah, basically we had a big tour of the summer, it's a big headline tour and we weren't ready to put out a new record. We're still working on it. It's gonna be awesome. But we were like we should put out some music because you know I have something new for fans listening on the road and that's basically the only reason we did it and I think it turned out great. It was just cool. We had some cool songs that were kind of in between our last record and what we're working on next and so we just made it. It's a five songs and it's quick, it's
02good, it's fun, it's exciting and I think I think our fans like it seems like goes over just as well if not better than our old songs overnight on stage. It's four and a half of your own songs kind of because there's a Whitney. Yeah, there is a Whitney. So when did that come about? Did that come about before she died and you were thinking yeah let's do that. It did. It did. It did. It did. Actually we released the single for the EP and released it. It was like the release date was set to be like three days after death and it was really honestly awkward. I didn't want to come off like I was riding the bandwagon and every now and stage we played it we'd say something and we tried our best to make it work but it was definitely awkward. It was written three months before it even came out.
49It's not like we were just putting it out. I felt weird because their parents in the crowd and I don't know I felt weird like even Dettiki and the song to her because it's like I'm so young. The song came out for I was born probably. Yeah, Whitney Houston is great but it's just a different generation. It's not like we grew up listening to Whitney. You do when you listen to Whitney? Yeah, I call him. This is my Whitney move clearly. What are you guys writing about? What are we going to hear on this record that comes out next year? The record that comes out next year is pretty crazy. I think I love lyrics. I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen fan so I'm all about lyrics and so it's very lyrical record and a very big like rhythmic record. A lot of
34really big drums and a cool kind of like half-time like really like almost epic beats and then like a lot of like really personal lyrics. Just wrote a song about my dad like both positive and negative song. It was really cool. I'll show you guys that one. Is that hard to write? No, no. I don't know. I just wanted to write a song about my dad and I don't know. I don't know. It was good. It's like Lord of the Rings meets Zack Porter's life. I don't know. I don't know how Lord of the Rings is. I don't know what that means but all right. Because you're going for epic. When I hear epic I just think Lord of the Rings. You should have prefaced that. I'm not sure it said that. Okay let's lose control. I want to see everybody on the flag. We use some
21cool five questions. Five quick questions. One more answers. Everyone can answer. We'll start at Michael then. Road or studio? Studio. Road. I like them both so much. So good. Cool. Letting her McCartney. He doesn't know. Yes. McCartney. McCartney. Song you've written your most proud of. Oh it's the bank for you probably. I like them Martinez. Alright. You take like that word. Yeah they've read a rapsaw. Correct. Check it out. I would say what do you think is my best? I really like all the way.
06It can only be one word. Well this one doesn't need to be one. All I was pretty. All. All the way. All of them. When you hear a song what usually hits you first lyrics melody or rhythm. Melody. I'm gonna go with rhythm lyrics and in one word right yeah in one word I'll start weekend. Stick. Great greatest. Best. Say how to expect. Exposition. Exposition. Exposition.
