00I wish that this night would never be over There's plenty of time to sleep when we die So let's just stay awake until we grow older Hey, it's Matt with MSN.CA. If you don't know the name beside me, I would probably do. It's Adam Lambert. How you doing? I'm good. How are you doing? I'm doing well. And making the record trespassing, obviously number one right now. It's a little different than the last one and I know you toured the last record doing some Zeppelin covers and Jimmy. I think Sandman, you put Metallica too. But this is it. This is a dance, electro pop kind of record. There's a lot of funk on the album too. So there's definitely moments. There's still a rock and roll energy to it here and there. It's not as rock traditionally speaking.
49But I listen to a lot of different types of music and I love a lot of different types of music. And I find it a bit old fashioned to relegate yourself to like one genre. I don't really see the point in that. I know most people, their iPods probably have a whole load of different styles of music on there. And as an artist, I wanted to express my ideas and my feelings through this style of music right now. A little more pop, a little more dance. It's kind of what I listen to more of right now. How is that going to come out on tour? Are these songs going to be easy to pull off on tour? You know, we started doing some live performances the last couple of weeks. And what's really cool about these songs is they do work really well live. I have a great musical director who helped me adapt the songs. And we're doing them slightly more organic than they're on the record. So they work. They all work. And that's what's, I think it's a sign of good songs that can kind of, they can come to life in many different styles.
42You know, we can do them acoustically even and they work. So that's cool. If you're talking about good songs, you're gonna be doing some shows with the guys in Queen. What's that like? How's your vocal warm-ups going to get Freddie? You know, I'm excited. I think it's going to be, it's definitely going to be a challenge and it's going to be a growing experience. But I'm very honored that they asked me and I think it's going to be fun. What are you most excited to sing? I don't know. I mean, I've never sung another one by The Dust Live. Okay. And it's one of my favorites. So that'll be fun. It's funny you mention that one because your record dressing kind of starts off that way. It's got that whoosh and the baseline kind of... Yeah, the baseline. There's a little bit of a, yeah, there's definitely a nod to it for sure. Yeah. I mean, and that's kind of, that's exactly what I'm saying is I love when the classic rock bands in the 70s,
30a lot of them started kind of veering towards disco and funk. And there was always, I think a lot of the fans had like a, there was a little bit of a backlash there. But they were just trying to get people dancing, you know? And there's something really, there's something really simple about that. You know? And I kind of feel like this is my version of that. Yeah, and you're dancing in the new video. Yeah, a little bit. Yeah. What's that like? Something new for you? No, I mean, you know, I used to do theater, so I've danced for years, but I haven't done a lot of choreography in my videos. So that was kind of a nice, a new, a new place for me to go. Five questions, five quick questions, one more answers. Yeah, okay. Road or studio? Studio. Lennon or McCartney?
15Lennon. When you hear a song that hits you first, lyrics, melody or rhythm? Rhythm. Song you've written your most proud of? Um, kind of proud of all of them on this album. I can't name one. I really can't. I'm really proud of all of them. What are you most excited to play live in? It depends on the mood that I'm in that day. I mean, when I'm feeling feisty, I like singing, trespassing and kicking in and shady. When I'm feeling a little bit more like I want to have a cathartic moment, I think it's going to be really interesting to get up there and sing underneath. Chocold has a lot of, Chocold gets rid of a lot of old demons for me, that song. They're a pewdieck performance. Yeah, I mean, listen, they're all my, this is my baby, so I love them all. More your baby than the last one? Yeah, I mean, I was more involved on this from the ground up and I had time to like sit with it and live with it to make all the decisions around it.
06So all of it, the track listing, the art, the name of the album, the style of the production, all the vocal editing, the harmonies, everything, the lyrics, I had time to really think it through. So I feel like that shows, you know, and that makes it more of an authentic representation of me as an artist and as a person. And I lead us to the last five questions in one word, Adam Lambert. A lot. Awesome. Thank you very much, Red.
